UnitedHealth cuts 4,000 jobs

Hello…I’m Evangeline Fabia, and welcome to HealthcareCrossing News. UnitedHealth Group Incorporated will settle two of its $900 million options suits…at the cost of cutting 4,000 jobs. That’s 5% of its workforce. As part of its restructuring…UnitedHealth announced plans to focus its efforts on regional coverage…and will serve all commercial benefits markets, including national accounts previously under the Uniprise brand. The company said it is seeing greater-than-expected pressure on premium yields. The company is reducing its risk-based business and said it is paying out more than expected for Medicare Part D prescription drug offerings and plans for seniors.
