From the supplier: Roxbury, MA, resident Basimah R. Abdullah is alleging that the use of territorial auto insurance rating in the state violates the equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment. The case points to price inequities for standard auto insurance packages, which in 1994 cost $1,619.29 for Roxbury residents, 176% more than the $585.98 it cost Wellesley residents. Massachusetts Asst Attorney General Judith Fabricant said that when risk is factored in, the two rates are comparable.
