Consumers have been unfamiliar with the insurance, according to the HEalth Insurance Assn of America, which found about 60% of people over 55 don't know about long-term care insurance. The new law, sponsored by Senators Kennedy and Kassebaum, allows customer to deduct premiums from their income tax as medical expenses.
