From the supplier: The New York Senate Committee on Insurance heard testimony from insurance companies as to why auto insurance premiums in New York City have risen since 1990 although auto theft rates have dropped by more than half. Insurers argued that insured car theft declines are lower than statistics for cars registered in the city, that thefts remain high for expensive, well care-for cars, and that a series of bad winters has pushed up collision losses.
